PROMPT machinery – a rising star of mechanical technology in Taiwan

PROMPT machinery – a rising star of mechanical technology in Taiwan

An interview with General Manager Mr. Huang You-Zhong

Three months prior to the opening of TIMTOS 2017, the editorial team arrived at PROMPT machinery, located in Taichung, to learn about this young and energetic company that initiated a number of mechanical innovations. The General Manager Mr. Huang You-Zhong of PROMPT shared his thoughts in the latest technological development trend and the key for success under the tides of global forces.

Maintaining the power of R&D and map out a unique developmental goal

The major machineries of PROMPT are EDMs, machining centers, lathes, surface grinding machine and Graphite / composite high-speed CNC milling machine. The exhibited machines at TIMTOS 2017 will beHMC-1300,EDM-432CS CNC, MT208*500 CNC, EDM-4535 CNC.

“Customers will find that PROMPT displays a very complete product line of machines, as the core value of PROMPT is in integrating the needs in machining. We thus provide machineries of different categories” said Mr. Huang. Besides the sufficient equipment PROMPT produces, the company also has its unique choice in innovation strategy.

The column moving EDM and graphite high speed CNC milling machine are two special products that the company focuses on. The two products certainly stand out from other machinery manufacturers because it is filling the niche among other existing products in the market. PROMPT’s column moving EDM can compensate machining tasks that a double column machining center is limited in - such as smaller and more precise, delicate requirements in the aviation and electronics manufacturing industries. On the other hand, introducing the graphite high speed CNC milling machine is quite significant given the properties that would cut abundant waste and cost in machining. Using graphite in machining is relatively new in Taiwan, required long process in R&D, experiment, and collaboration with research institutes. Yet Mr. Huang believes that the efforts would rightfully show the company’s capacity in innovation, and ultimately provide a fresh solution in machining for customers.

The next step for PROMPT is in developing controllers and software system to enhance intelligent manufacturing in their machines.

Aiming for The Middle East and Southeast Asian markets

Not only does PROMPT has a unique plan in their product choice, the company also runs a quite different market strategy regarding international trade. General Manager Mr. Huang sees crises as opportunities, and with this belief, he was able to grow in revenue in 2016 whilst the year had appeared to be a gloomy year for many machine manufacturers. The fundamental precondition for Mr. Huang to secure the growth in uncertain times is to keep investing in R&D, and finding a niche in the harsh competitions between superpowers – namely China and the U.S. PROMPT was able to identify their position, and execute a plan that suits their development as a SME – “Courage and being fearless of failures are essential”, Mr. Huang emphasized those are what being unique takes. For 2017, the company will formulate their promotion in the Middle East and Southeast Asia region. Presently PROMPT has already have a service and factory branch at Nonthaburi, Thailand. Mr. Huang wishes to extend their presence in ASEAN from Thailand.

At TIMTOS 2017 Mr. Huang welcomes all to visit their booth to find out more about some pioneering machines PROMPT produces.
