The development in plastics composite material is strengthening its share in the Asia Pacific market

Composite material is empowering the market diversity in the plastics industry and putting the Asian Pacific market as the battlefront

Not only has the plastic industry engaging more on revolutionary functions in the production line to sharpen the precision level of the system and smart functions, there are also constant improvements on material processing in the plastics industry. Especially regarding to the development of composite materials, the applications have broadened owing to their high practicality. They are remarkably being applied to the fields of automotive, aerospace, energy, medical equipment. Polymer composites such as glass fiber reinforced thermosetting plastics consist more than 90% of the overall practical/industrial use, the demand of glass fiber reinforced plastics in Asia furthermore composes over half of the global market demand. The strong areas that boost the demand come from China, Japan and India’s innovative changes in the automobile industry, and frankly the revolutions in material technology.

Taiwan’s plastics industry is gradually aiming for higher value and high quality strategy, from the top and down stream the products shows pretty unique advantages globally. On one hand, Taiwan’s plastics industry can keep focusing on creating stronger, collision resistant, and excellent fatigue resistant plastics. On the other, the plastics machinery manufacturers could develop better composite material processing technology and increase the machineries’ bargaining power whilst getting involved in this material technology bandwagon.

As the market statistics shown, the Asian Pacific would become the largest area for composite material between 2015-2020 due to flourishing construction projects, transportation improvements and urbanization. This would be an absolute opportunity for the plastics industry for Taiwan, consider the crucial geographical and plastics development of Taiwan.
